Structural assessments of aging buildings are a key part of identifying preventative maintenance and preventing failures. This presentation discusses what occurs during the assessment process, assessment techniques, and reporting requirements. Additionally, it highlights real world examples of building structural failures, both minor and major.

Participants will understand the assessment process.
Participants will be able to identify common assessment techniques for building materials.
Participants will learn to distinguish between non-destructive and destructive assessment techniques.
Participants will explore a variety of structural failures to understand how both minor and major structural failures may result in safety hazards.
